Hello Spring!

Welcome to Spring Sisters! I think it might finally be coming. The sun is shining, the snow is melting, and the birds are singing- sure signs of spring.

I have some sad news to share. The last founding sister of Tau State passed away on February 21, 2010 at the age of 100. Her name was Nyda Elizabeth Ehlert Swanson. She was a remarkable lady and educator. She was the founder of the School of Music at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Her service was at the Swanson Family Chapel at Boutwells Landing in Oak Park Heights. She most recently was a member of Sigma Chapter. We will honor her at the spring conference in April.

I hope you have all read and printed a copy of the Winter Edition of the North Star News. Robbie has again done an outstanding job of composing. Thank you to all the Committee Chairs who submitted articles and photos. Please read pages 4-6 to find out about the wonderful Spring Conference will be having at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Brooklyn Park on April 23-25. You will want to be there for the whole conference, beginning with Phillip Brunelle on Friday night . We are very fortunate to have him as our entertainment. There will be a concurrent session on Stress Relief for those not attending the Executive Board Meeting. With all the wonderful session topics and presenters, how can you choose just one for each session. I am especially interested in the session on Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota. My best friend's son was on the board a few years ago and I have been contributing ever since. Check out their website http://www.can-do-canines.org/

We are especially excited that our International Guest will be Glenda Reynolds, our Northwest Regional Director. She hails from Wyoming. She is very enthusiastic and dedicated to our society and you will surely want to meet her.

It is not too early to be thinking about attending the International Convention in Spokane, Washington July 20-24 and maybe even the Seminar in Purposeful Living in Tacoma, Washington July 15-18. Registration information is on the International Website and you can register for everything right online.

March is a month of renewal and I hope you will consider serving your chapter in a leadership role or committee chair for the next biennium.

For those of you who are Irish (as I am and very proud of it) I leave you with an Irish Blessing that was on the front of a St. Patrick's Day card I received in the mail today.

" May soft be the grass you walk on, May fair be the skies above you, May true be the joys that surround you, and May dear be the hearts that love you."
